When you want a comfortable cruise with a side of sporty capabilities, the 2020 Jeep Renegade and Kia Soul will both do nicely. But, with only one open spot in your garage, you have to make a choice. That’s where Coleman Motors’ comparison guide comes in.
Cruising Comfort: 2020 Jeep Renegade
Comfort is a big part of your daily drive, and the Renegade has it in spades. This little crossover is roomy, quiet, and accommodating. You’ll love how the seats hit all your pressure points with soft, supportive cushioning. The cabin is especially big on head- and shoulder room, making it a subcompact crossover that comfortably accommodates a wide range of body types.
The Kia Soul will also impress you with its generous passenger space. Seats also remain highly supportive, even after hours of driving. The cabin could be a little quieter, however. Some tire and wind noise have a tendency to interfere with your on-road conversations.
Tech Lineup: It’s a Tie!
When it comes to savvy safety features and modern infotainment, we like both the 2020 Jeep Renegade and Kia Soul. These little crossovers help you spot danger, with driving aids that include blind-spot monitoring and automatic emergency braking. And both models provide easy-to-use infotainment systems, with color touch screens and complete smartphone integration (via Apple CarPlay and Android Auto).
Max Efficiency: 2020 Kia Soul
To reduce your fuel budget, consider the Soul. With EPA ratings of up to 31 mpg combined (29 city/35 highway mpg), this little crossover will help commuters pinch pennies. However, the Renegade isn’t exactly far behind. It also does a good job of balancing a sporty ride with day-to-day efficiency, earning up to 27 mpg combined (24/32 mpg).
Best-in-Class Off-Roading: 2020 Jeep Renegade
If you’re looking for a little extra adventure, there’s no better subcompact crossover than the Renegade. Every Renegade is available with an all-wheel-drive system that boosts traction on wet roads or sandy trails. If you’re looking for all-out off-road action, the Renegade Trailhawk is the trim model for you. With its raised suspension, underbody skid plates, and special four-wheel drive with low-range settings, this Renegade will take you where other subcompacts fear to tread.
The 2020 Kia Soul is more of a pavement dweller. All trim models are available with sporty all-wheel drive, but rugged four-wheel drive isn’t an option. We will say that the Soul is an especially enticing performer on curvy roads, but it won’t exactly take you into the wilderness.
In the end, though the 2020 Kia Soul has a lot going for it, the 2020 Jeep Renegade really comes out on top. You’re going to love its adventurous performance, savvy tech lineup, and streamlined modern cabin.
