What’s new for the 2022 Chevy Bolt EV?
These hatchbacks get new exterior styling for 2022, as well as some comfy new front seats. Chevy also updated the Bolt EV’s infotainment system, with a new 10.2-inch interface and wireless connectivity for the Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone integration technology. Finally, adaptive cruise control is newly optional, helping your Bolt EV maintain a safe distance from the vehicle up ahead when you’re cruising the highway.
Which Bolt EV trim model should I choose?
The answer to this question depends on which features you want in a daily cruiser and how much you’re ready to spend on a new Bolt EV. But your choice is pretty simple, since there are only two Bolt EV trim models: the 1LT and 2LT. The entry-level 1LT will entice you with its modern lineup and lower starting price. And the 2LT adds a little extra luxury, with extra leather goods and high-tech safety features. Here’s a look at a few of the highlights from each trim model.

What exactly powers the Bolt? How fast does the 2022 Chevy Bolt EV charge?
Under the Bolt EV, a battery-powered motor sends 200 horsepower and 266 pound-feet of torque to the front wheels. Fully charged, the Bolt EV can travel for 259 miles before it needs to be replenished. That’s a great figure for an EV hatchback.
Once your battery runs out of juice, you’re going to need to plug it in for a recharge. Every Bolt EV trim model comes with a dual-level charge cord, which means you can plug it into either a Level 1 (120-volt) or Level 2 (240-volt) power outlet. With the standard 120-volt outlet, the Volt completely recharges in 55 hours. For 2022, Chevy has revamped the Bolt battery so that it can charge more quickly using a 240-volt power outlet, bringing that time down to 7.5 hours (from 9.5 hours).
This electric hatchback also includes a DC fast charger. Use it at DC charging stations, where you can recharge the Bolt EV battery to 80 percent capacity in just one hour.
How much will the 2022 Chevy Bolt EV cost?
The Bolt EV starts at $31,500, which of course is an excellent price for such a luxurious all-electric hatchback. Of course, that price can rise if you decide to upgrade to the 2LT trim model or add any optional features.
