If you want a three-row sport utility vehicle at an unbeatable price, you want the Dodge Journey. No other SUV sporting this many seats can even compare in terms of affordability. And that’s its claim to fame. It really stands out if you compare what else you can get at this price point. We think you’ll agree, and we’ll explore why in this preview guide of the 2020 Dodge Journey.
What’s New for 2020?
Dodge has added standard rear park assist to all models, as well as a standard sunroof for the Crossroad trim level. There’s also a new Popular Equipment package. On the base Journey, this package includes six-way power-adjustable driver's seat, Uconnect with Voice Command and Bluetooth, SiriusXM satellite radio, three-zone climate control, security alarm, and leather-wrapped shift knob and steering wheel.
The Dodge Journey has streamlined their offerings, probably because they know better now what their customers like. The trim levels have gone from three to two. That leaves the SE Value and Crossroad. On top of that, Dodge has dispensed with the all-wheel drive and the optional V-6 engine, leaving a single engine and front-wheel drive as the only offerings.
Versatile Seating
Far and away, the best thing about the Journey is its seating. As we’ve stated, the Journey is the most affordable three-row SUV on the market. With seating for up to seven passengers, the Journey is enough for your entire crew. And that’s value in itself. Better still, the interior seating is easily changeable. The second row can be moved up to give the third row more legroom. Or you can fold down the 50/50-split third row and the 60/40-split second row to expand the available storage space. And speaking of storage, there's also a large bin under the front-passenger seat cushion, along with two large underfloor compartments in the second row.
Low Price
The 2020 Dodge Journey starts at the low, low price of $24,990. No other three-row SUV comes close. Every Journey comes with parking sensors, rearview camera, and a 4.3-inch touchscreen with basic audio features. The Popular Equipment group we mentioned above nicely fills out that technology roster. Or if you want a unique look, the Blacktop package adds a gloss black grille and exclusive 17-inch wheels. If that’s still not enough for you, there’s always the Journey Crossroads starting at $30,990. The same engine comes with either trim level, a 172-horsepower V6 that will get you and up to six passengers where you need to go.
